Dodgeball

Two teams face off — throw, dodge, and catch your way to victory. Hit opponents to eliminate them, or catch a throw to bring a teammate back.

Full team

RULES

  1. 1

Start on opposite sides of the centerline

  2. 2

Wait for a whistle to start the game; only then can players run towards the balls in the middle of the court

  3. 3

A player is eliminated if hit by a thrown ball before it bounces

  4. 4

Headshots do not count; hits must be from the neck downwards

  5. 5

Catching a thrown ball eliminates the thrower and allows one eliminated teammate to return on your side

  6. 6

The team with more players remaining wins the round

  7. 7

Pool play is best of 3 rounds; the playoffs (semifinals, 3rd-place match and final) are a single sudden-death round

  8. 8

Eliminations only earn points in pool play. In the playoffs the only points are for winning the round and for your final placement — so a knockout game is about winning it, not running up the count

  9. 9

Referees count the players left standing at the end of each pool round, not hits as they happen: a player brought back by a catch is alive again

SETUP

  • Mark the centerline and side boundaries clearly
  • Place balls along the centerline for a rush at the start
  • Assign referees to monitor eliminations and boundary violations

SCORING

Recalculated pools of 3 (based on Tug of War), each match is 3 rounds; after pool play, matches are 1-round sudden death. In pool play: opponent elimination = 1 point, round win = 1 point. In the playoffs, only round wins score — eliminations are pool play only. Final placement: 1st = 5, 2nd = 3, 3rd = 2, 4th = 1.
